We are pleased to announce that TJ be speaking at the Online Educa Berlin (OEB) conference on Friday 2nd December in Berlin, Germany.

She commented “there are so many options for technology to assist learning for individuals and to create learning conversations within organisations, and yet people are missing out.”

Cook continued: “I’m going to review the success of our #TJwow webinar discussion programme. The format is very different to other L&D webinars, with conversation starting from just one key question, no speaker presentations and huge encouragement for attendees to join in the debate with their microphone too.”

Editor Debbie Carter commented on the success: “According to the Content Marketing Institute1, the industry average of live attendance to webinars is around 30-40 per cent. Our launch week in May had an average live attendance of 42 per cent and as the format has become established the following monthly webinar live chats average 66 per cent attendance rate.”

Carter explained: “This tells me that our readership are enjoying the debates, access to speakers live on webcam throughout the session and finding the flexible conversation useful for their personal and professional development.”

OEB is a global, cross-sector conference on technology supported learning and training, held every November. The theme of the conference for 2016 is “about the new world of the empowered learner – a world in which learning is owned by learners”.

Cook commented: “This theme is precisely what I want to concentrate on in sharing the learning of our failures and successes with the #TJwow webinar concept. It’s not about me, as the webinar host, controlling the session, or the speakers having all of the answers. It’s about all of us discussing, learning socially in what happens to be a loose webinar format. Most importantly it’s about people attending asking the questions, commenting and sharing learning with each other.”

Carter concludes: “The richness in the conversations has really pleased me. This is something that we hope other organisations can learn from, to reach their staff and engage them.”

Jo Cook is speaking on Friday 2nd December at 1.30pm CET in the session titled “Dodging the Silver Bullet: What Is the Right Technology for the Right Job?

Cook will also be attending the rest of the conference with tweets and live Periscope videos through Twitter by following @TrainingJournal and #OEB16
