If you are reading this page, it’s because you are considering or have said yes to attending an event to cover it for Training Journal, thank you!
Typically this involves you getting a free ticket to the event, though I’m sorry that we can’t cover any other costs for you. In exchange for attending the event we usually ask for social media coverage, and sometimes perhaps an article or video, depending on your skills and availability.
Social media posting
Most people post during the event about what’s going on, and here are some pointers.
- You’ll be posting from your own account
- You’ll be posting on your platform of choice, as discussed (eg LinkedIn, X/Twitter, BlueSky, Instagram etc)
- You’ll be using the event hashtag
- From the TJ social media platforms we will highlight that you are covering the event and to follow you
- If you are using LinkedIn you’ll be best creating one post saying what you are doing and then comment after that. It keeps everything together and avoids spamming your followers with information that might not flow
- Please use lots of images
- You are welcome to use video if you are comfortable with that
- Please use your own voice, thoughts and comments. Your voice is the TJ voice and you’ve been asked because we want people to have the benefit of your insight and experience
- Please focus your commentary on learning insights and discussions, rather than on things like the lunch offered
- Whilst we would like you to post often, we don’t want you to miss details or get stressed doing so!
Examples:
- This LinkedIn post highlighted people covering a conference
- These are some LinkedIn posts for a conference by Jayne Davids
- These are some tweets from a conference by Editor Jo Cook on the TJ X account
- These are some tweets from TJ on X by Gaëlle Delmas-Watson
Articles, videos and more
If, after the event, you would like or we have discussed creating an article, video or something similar, that would be great. Please get it to us as soon as you can without rushing or being stressed.
Articles with images would be great, please just email the images with your article.
Videos sent via a transfer link is great and we can upload it to the Training Journal YouTube channel.
