Workers wasting on average 10 full days a year due to imposter syndrome
New research from The Executive Development Network (EDN), a leader in management and leadership training, reveals that UK employees experiencing imposter syndrome lose up to 10 full days per year in productivity.
The research surveyed 2,000 employees at UK businesses and found that individuals with imposter syndrome take 1 extra day per year off work on average due to stress and anxiety. The condition also adds to recruitment costs as it’s proven to be an influential factor on employees considering quitting or leaving their role. In fact, imposter syndrome is the cause of 12% of job quitting decisions and is a factor in the decision for over a quarter of people (26%) quitting their roles.

- 97% of UK candidates who used AI in their applications receiving callbacks for interviews
- 80% of UK hiring managers prefer candidates who present a portfolio showcasing their work, via a website or presentation. Yet, only 40% of UK job seekers use portfolios
- 93% of UK hiring managers value candidates that have established a social media or online presence related to their career
A third of financial services firms ‘missing out’ on apprenticeships
A study by specialist professional services and technology business Davies found that while nearly three in five (57%) organisations offer an apprenticeship scheme, 35% do not and 8% are unsure if they do.
Among employers that do not have a scheme in place, 11% said they didn’t know how to set one up and 15% are uncertain about how to take advantage of the apprenticeship levy.
Nearly one in five (19%) survey respondents do not see the value in having a scheme, while more than two in five (42%) believe they attract enough talent without them.
