Senior L&D experts from GSK, Marks & Spencer and McDonald’s to provide inspiration at World of Learning

Among the L&D experts fulfilling the conference programme will be Marks & Spencer’s L&D design manager, Brid Nunn, who won ‘L&D Professional of the Year’ at the Training Journal Awards in 2015, and her colleague, L&D manager, Sarah Gregory Anderson. They will join Marnie Threapleton of Towards Maturity as they challenge assumptions and examine motivating and empowering time-starved workers in their session on ‘Learner determined learning.’


‘Hooking the learner with gamification’ is the topic Mark Reilly, head of corporate training at McDonald’s UK, will examine in his session. Crucially, he’ll look at design that delivers ROI and engages learners, and how to implement gamification as part of the learning offering.


The world class World of Learning conference is a platform where expert speakers share industry knowledge and strategies, along with tactics to make an immediate business impact.


At a time when it’s going to be more important than ever for L&D functions to demonstrate true business value, this year’s conference has an emphasis on the core fundamentals of L&D, while examining how innovation and technology can drive learning forward to deliver optimal results for business.

Joe Tidman, director of learning capabilities at GSK, leads several global learning and development programmes at GSK and will be presenting alongside Rachel Kuftinoff, learning consultancy director at KnowledgePool (part of Capita Learning Services). Their enlightening session on ‘How to deliver an agile global learning strategy’ will delve into how to handle cultural shifts and the challenge of learning standardisation with learner personalisation.


Former global L&D director of Google, Stephan Thoma and Callum Petrie, HR director of Philips Lighting UK & Nordic, will address a subject at the heart of this year’s conference in their keynote session: ‘Learning that drives innovation and innovation that drives learning.’
