The eLearning Network (eLN) reveals more about its keynote speakers ahead of launching the full conference programme for eLN Connect 2019.

eLN Connect is renowned in the L&D industry as the go-to collaborative event that provides dedicated time to network with like-minded individuals. This year’s conference explores how the L&D community can better support organisations in building and fostering learning cultures that thrive.

Nicole Bradfield, Partner at Within People, opens the day’s programme with her keynote 'Sorry nothing to learn here'. With 20 years’ brand agency experience, Nicole now collaborates with leaders around the world to grow the businesses they love.

Nicole said: “Leading and shaping an organisation is an incredible privilege, and the richest of learning experiences. The way we work together is now the way we create value together. Leaders that create conditions for people to love who they are, and what they do, are growing the successful businesses people want to be a part of.

"And those leaders are putting vulnerability, courage, empathy and creativity at the heart of how they lead and learning to leave behind old ways of leading that no longer serve us.”

Within People recently spent a year speaking to ambitious men and women leading forward-thinking companies looking to understand the qualities that modern leaders need to build successful workplace cultures – and heard that it’s more about what we need to unlearn that enables us to lead with love.

Nicole added: “Unlearning is much harder than learning. But if we can find ways to let go of what gets in our way, we can unleash the human qualities we know are needed now, more than ever.”

With people’s skills continuously evolving and workplaces rapidly changing, organisations require a different approach to fulfilling learning needs; creating the right environment and culture is critical. The day’s programme delves into the concept that learning be integrated within the flow of work and explores why learners should take ownership of their learning, so they self-identify how their skills and careers develop.

Robin Hoyle, Head of Learning Innovation at Huthwaite International, closes the conference with his keynote. Robin is a writer, broadcaster and blogger who has worked in L&D for over 30 years. He is primarily summarising the preceding contributions and drawing conclusions and recommendations for action as a result.

Robin will also be exploring not only how L&D professionals can do great work, but how they can measure the impact they’re having on the learning process and demonstrate how they sustainably enhance team and individual capability.

Robin said: “I’ll be drawing together the themes and recommendations from the conference to focus on how we use online tools and digital materials to enable people to adopt new behaviours, adapt existing behaviours and improve their performance.

"Learning is about enabling people to do things differently and do different things. This year’s conference theme certainly supports attendees’ learning and empowers discussion and debate.”

eLN Connect 2019 takes place on Wednesday, 20th November at the Leonardo Royal Hotel London Tower Bridge. As in previous years, Training Journal is the event’s sole media partner. Online registration is open.

The eLN is a not-for-profit, Community Interest Company run by the eLearning community for the learning community. eLN delivers guidance on best practice and future trends in technology-based learning and development at work, with hundreds of members in the UK and beyond. The eLN also manages the judging process for the annual Learning Technology Awards.
