TJ Awards 2017: Finalists announced
There was a good response to call for entries this year with many organisations entering more than one programme, so some have more than one finalist’s position, but there is a strong list from both public and private sector organisations like AbbVie UK and Jurys Inn Hotel Group to NHS Blood and Transplant and Transport for London.
There were particularly good numbers in the technology category up 212.5% on 2016, along with leadership (+142.8%) and L&D team and L&D professional of the year up 116.6 % and 100% respectively. Apprenticeship entries increased by 44.4% and coaching and mentoring increased by 25%.
There was a lower number of entries in the following categories: sales (-50%), customer service (-37.5%), private/commercial (-37.5%) and operational (-17.14%).
The judges are now preparing to start the interviews in mid-September with the final face to face meetings taking place on 3 October. The interviews are compulsory and any finalists who do not make it to interview, either in person or virtually will be disqualified.
“The interview phase is the final stage of judging,” says TJ’s editor-in chief Debbie Carter “but we try to make them as informal as possible. Candidates have up to 10 minutes to present new data to the judges who will then ask questions to fill any gaps in their understanding of the projects.”
The results will be revealed at the Gala Dinner on Tuesday 5 December in London when the winners in the 16 categories will receive their gold, silver and bronze prizes.
