Britain’s Healthiest Workplace winners announced for 2016
In the first study of its kind in the UK investigates the impact of lifestyle and workplace environment on health and the healthiest places to work are revealed.
The 2016 Britain’s Healthiest Workplace winners have been revealed and the awards have recognised Nomura International Plc as the healthiest large workplace, adidas UK the healthiest medium workplace and Forster Communications the healthiest small workplace.
Since inception, over 400 organisations and nearly 100,000 individuals have taken part, across a wide range of industries, regions and demographic groups. This year 160 organisations and more than 34,000 individual participants took part.
Britain’s Healthiest Workplace was developed by VitalityHealth and is delivered in partnership with the University of Cambridge, RAND Europe and Mercer.
The study uses both an employer and employee survey to provide a top-down and bottom-up view of employee health and wellbeing, as well as organisational culture and approaches to managing the health of employees. It is the first study of its kind in the UK to seek to understand the impact of lifestyle factors and the workplace environment on employee health and productivity outcomes, at both an individual and an organisational level, and to track these over time.
This year the survey incorporated a wider range of workplaces ranging from private sector to third sector and public sector, giving a holistic overview of the nation’s health. And for the first time companies with a workforce of just 20 employees or more were eligible to take part.
Britain’s Healthiest Workplace recognises excellence in workplace wellness across three award categories and three organisation sizes. The overall award for Britain’s Healthiest Workplace is based on the combined scores from the Healthiest Employer and Healthiest Employee awards, to holistically determine Britain’s Healthiest Workplace.

The fact that the study has more than tripled in size over the last four years shows a growing awareness of the importance of employee health and wellbeing.”
