YMCA Awards scoops industry award for new learner app

Health and fitness organisation YMCA Awards has been awarded the prestigious ‘Innovation of the Year’ accolade at the Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB) Awards for its new learner application ‘Y-Go’, which aims to improve students’ pass rates and employability chances.

Commenting on the award win, Rob May, director at YMCA Awards, said: “I am absolutely thrilled that our Y-Go app won in the Innovation of the Year category, against stiff competition. This award is fantastic recognition for the huge team-effort that’s gone into delivering our new learner app. We believe that this product is a great example of how awarding organisations can extend their reach into the world of learners and offer unique insights, advice and support to help learners succeed.

“We’ve long championed technology and its application in the education market, the sector is changing rapidly around us, and learning technology will play a vital role in the re-shaping of the sector.”

The free app, which is now available on iOS and Android devices, has the potential to benefit around 30,000 learners, also provides information on further study options, personalised to each individual student, and is tailored to suit a number of different learning styles.

The Federation of Awarding Bodies’ inaugural FAB Awards were created to recognise excellence amongst its 110 UK awarding organisations.
