Diversity and equality have come a long way in recent years. Things are still very far from perfect but legislation is forcing employers to acknowledge the right of women, ethnic minorities, gays, disabled people and, most recently, older and younger workers to fair treatment.
Employers are also realising it makes sound business sense for their workforce to be representative of their customers – people are more likely to buy from people who are like themselves.
