Many readers, I am sure, followed with fascination Gerry Robinson’s experiences and interventions in Rotherham General Hospital in a recent BBC series which recorded six months of trying to bring about changes in waiting lists at the hospital. The spotlight fell on chief executive Brian James, who said in an interview about the programme: “We were already one of the most successful hospitals in the country and we just wanted to know how we could be the best.”
