It is probably true to say that we have all experienced stress at some time in our working life – some more than others. What distinguishes one person from another, however, is the way they deal with stress, and the degree to which they are affected. For stress can not only affect our ability to work, but it may also have a dramatic impact on our health.

Although it is often intertwined and discussed simultaneously with pressure, stress is not the same thing. Experiencing pressure can be a good thing, and often improves performance. But when pressure becomes excessive, it can lead to stress. People’s reactions to pressure vary, and what may be stimulating work for one person, may be stressful to another. ..
