According to Lord Sandy Leitch, whose eagerly awaited review of the UK’s long-term skills needs was published last month, the focus should be squarely on ‘economically valuable skills’ if the country is to remain competitive within the global economy. And he says that everyone – employers, the government and individuals – should invest more in learning and development.
