We all know that bullying and harassment are unacceptable on moral grounds, but if left unchecked or badly handled they can create serious problems for an organisation. These problems can include: poor morale and employee relations, lack of respect for managers and supervisors, poor performance and reduced productivity, increased absence and poor staff retention and recruitment. In addition, the possibility of bullied staff seeking legal action and compensation claims can lead to serious damage to a company’s reputation and profitability. It is in every employer’s interests to promote a safe, healthy and fair environment in which people can work.
