One way the vogue for positive psychology has manifested itself has been in focusing on developing peoples’ strengths rather than helping them to improve on their weaknesses.

However, there is still a case to be made for getting a clearer understanding of those seriously dysfunctional behaviour patterns that periodically surface. Such behaviours may emerge during stressful periods, when we are very weary, or when our self-belief is being challenged.
