The Chine Training Centre, part of the FJB Group’s collection of hotels along the Dorset coastline, is, unusually, a self-contained wing of The Chine hotel, with a separate entrance and access to the hotel itself. Situated at the water’s edge in this popular seaside town, the location – and the sea views – are really splendid. The hotel is set overlooking the sea at Boscombe, just to the east of Bournemouth, with views over Poole Bay.

The conference facilities themselves are more than adequate, with a total of seven rooms available (again, some with views over the hotel’s gardens and onto the sea). The presentation equipment is fine, if not enormously technical: each room is equipped with projection screens, flipcharts, whiteboards, OHP tables and TVs and videos, but additional audio visual equipment can be arranged for a hire fee. With the largest of these rooms accommodating 40 people theatre style, this is not a place you come to if you are planning to present to very large groups.

What you do come for, I would guess, is all the fun extras that The Chine Training Centre offers. Thanks to its coastal position, there are an unusual number of outdoor activities on offer at The Chine: these include golf, tennis, and, rather excitingly, sailing and windsurfing. In The Chine hotel itself, the facilities are equally tempting. There are heated outdoor and indoor swimming pools, a sauna and solarium, a Jacuzzi and hot tub, as well as a gym, putting green and (for those that like their sports a little less energetic) a pool room.

Larger conference facilities are available within the hotel: the 87-bedroom hotel hosts 11 conference rooms, and 17 syndicate rooms, and the largest of its suites – the Pineview Suite – can hold 160 people reception style, 140 dinner dance style, and 70 classroom style. It has a free car park for 95 cars, and its own bar, lounge and restaurant (the former two of which remain open all day).

There are daily and 24-hour packages available for both sets of facilities: The 24-hour delegate rate is £135 per person, and the day rate is a reasonable £39 per person.
