Audience participation was the name of the game at the third TJ conference. L&D practitioners took part in a variety of seminars
and learning sessions. And ‘taking part’ was definitely the order of the day: the event was an active one rather than simply a passive transfer of information.

After a welcome from TJ editor Debbie Carter, the one-day conference kicked off with a keynote address by Chris Barez-Brown, director of global learning at innovation specialist ?What If!, who aimed to get delegates in the right frame of mind to make the most of the conference.

“I’m going to warm you up a bit and get you into a learning mode,” he told his audience. “I go into organisations and improve
their Elvis. I get them to be a bit more themselves with the help of innovation techniques. I’m going to help you be a bit more Elvis."
