The practice of mindfulness has its roots in ancient disciplines, such as the Buddhist principle of ‘calm acceptance’, and is now becoming part of the Western set of tools for managing people’s mental and physical states.
Mindfulness has been combined with cognitive behavioural coaching (as this month’s case history demonstrates), stress reduction, meditation and yoga, to name just a few areas, and there are claims that it can help with health disorders and bring about cures. It is a simple technique that can be applied at any moment in any situation, for clarity, understanding, relaxation and comfort.
