External events have prompted me this month to look at training in a broader context, and to consider why we learn and what happens when we do. It’s big question to try to tackle in just a few hundred words, but I wanted to share a few thoughts on the topic with you at least.
Reading the papers and considering the results of the European and local elections, it’s clear that there is widespread disillusionment across the country about politics and politicians. Given the extent to which people feel they have been let down, this is not surprising but its results are very concerning – some people not bothering to vote, others switching their votes to extremist parties.
