This training package resulted from studies revealing that, while competency frameworks were common in business, few were understood or used successfully. This important finding was showcased at April’s HRD 2009 with a ‘topic taster’ from author Hugh Murray. He explored how a competency framework may be used to help prepare for an appraisal and as a focus for CPD.
At the risk of sounding cynical, this looks like evidence of a well-intentioned HR initiative being introduced in an organisation with little thought for the manager responsible for implementation. This DVD package might help save the day for managers who need to raise their game through more effective use of competency frameworks. Paradoxically, the target audience for the package is the individual employee, not the manager.
