“How do you get commitment to agreed actions or ensure that learners achieve all their stated objectives? We seem to struggle to get people to actually do what they say they’re going to do after they’ve been on a training course. Are there any techniques, Izzy, that we could use to try to change this situation? We seem to have better results with junior staff than with our senior managers and directors, and they really should know better.”
I once scared a nice young man on a workshop when I turned to him and said: “So, Tom, do you like me?” Taken aback, he replied: “Of course, Izzy, why?” “Well, will you marry me then?” “Err… umm… gosh…” It was only the first morning – he just wasn’t ready to commit…
