If I sometimes complain about how difficult it is being a CEO, how glad I am NOT to be an MP this month! However, CEOs are in the public eye and subject to the scrutiny of others no matter what size of organisation they lead. It is not always about expenses, of course, but often criticism comes from those with different agendas and ideas about how and what decisions should be made.
As to expenses, these are always a thorny subject in any organisation. Although we now do ours electronically, which speeds up authorisation, this month we have moved to weekly reimbursement, which has brought its own controversy.
I was once told that car allowances were the one thing a CEO should never get involved in and, believe me, I have tried to stay out of that one!
