I recently attended the parliamentary launch of the National Apprenticeship Service, hosted by Gordon Marsden MP and addressed by skills minister Lord Young, himself a former apprentice. It was an interesting event, attended by many businesses and agencies working with apprentices.
I got talking with three young people from the National Learner Panel, all of them current apprentices. I remembered one of the young women from her passionate speeches at the party conferences last year on the benefits she had gained from moving into an apprenticeship after an unhappy experience with A Levels.
