Inspirational speakers are familiar to most of us in learning and development. We’ve all been mesmerised by the exploits of explorers who’ve pushed their own, and their teams’, endurance beyond limits and become legends in the process. Or there are the athletes whose dedication and focus has brought those accolades to which many of us aspire.
They become heroes and role models to many but there should be a proviso to this acclaim because these individuals choose their path in life – it is not imposed upon them.
For me, greater inspiration comes from more reluctant heroes and this year’s TJ Awards will be hosted by one of the most inspirational men of our generation – John McCarthy.
