The world is continuously shrinking, as the Internet and mobile communications expand the connections between people in different spaces and places around the globe. There are increasing movements and exchanges between businesses in different countries. Most people in business today need to interact with others who are different to their cultures and often from different parts of the globe.

Doing business internationally is especially important in the current challenging economic climate. In the UK, companies are increasingly looking for new opportunities in countries that are less affected by the credit crunch. An increase in international trade may be the key for some businesses to survive.

Thus, preparing executives with the appropriate cultural competence has become an essential criterion to succeed in gaining business deals internationally.
