More than half of ICT workers who received training this year were trained off-the-job, usually on their employers’ premises or at specialist centres.
Just over a third received job related education or training on the-job, while 12 per cent were trained with a combination of on and off-the-job programmes. That’s according to the latest quarterly review of the ICT labour market by e-skills UK, the sector skills council for the IT and telecoms industry.
The review examines how the credit crunch is affecting vacancies and salaries for people in the sector and also uses extra data from the Office for National Statistics, Labour Force Survey and e-skills UK’s own ICT Professionals survey to provide a more in-depth analysis of training.
