Trade unions around the world are building a learning agenda. The aim is to help millions of union members cope with change – an increasing issue in a globalising and technology-driven economy – and begin new educational adventures.
Training is increasingly an issue in collective bargaining, not always a welcome development for some backward-looking employers.
Member surveys give a clear message that unions themselves need to play a greater role in providing education and training services for professional development. So, today, many unions provide access to education up to university level.
