Even in this day and age, there are some managers who think that keeping a ‘little book of blame’ will motivate staff to perform better. More enlightened managers encourage employees by celebrating success. But while a thank you is always welcome, a well thought out and creative reward goes a long way to show how much someone’s contribution is valued.
Craig Wright asked: “Despite having the usual mechanisms in place for recognising and celebrating success (employee of the month, individual and team awards, encouraging managers to ‘spot’ and recognise success and so on) our employee opinion survey tells us we are not good at recognising and celebrating success.
“Any suggestions for impactful and innovative ways to recognise and celebrate success would be gratefully received!”
