Articles about ‘bridging the gap’ between IT and business commonly focus on how closer alignment would help the business get what it needs from IT, such as software that fulfils a business need or streamlined processes. They tend not to examine what IT needs from the business – such as a training programme that keeps skills relevant in the fast moving world of technology – and the negative impact that this misalignment can have on the business as a whole.
