The word ‘politics’ has its roots in the Greek word for citizens or people, so being ‘political’ literally means to be aware of people, which isn’t actually a bad thing. The main issue for the majority of individuals is that being political has negative connotations, such as self interest, manipulating others and being economical with the truth. But the fact is that to be successful in the workplace, you need to be politically aware.
