In 1970 the Equal Pay Act heralded a raft of legislative reforms introduced by successive UK governments, aimed at providing equal opportunities for all. But despite the legislation, inequality and prejudice is still prevalent in modern Britain. While, admittedly, legislation can help in the fight against discrimination against minority and disadvantaged groups, it is only by changing attitudes that real progress can be made.
