A ‘troubling picture’ of low aspiration and institutional discrimination has been painted in a report on the challenges facing disabled people working in lifelong learning.
An investigation by the Commission for Disabled Staff in Lifelong Learning has found that many of the measures taken to increase opportunities for disabled learners have not benefited their disabled teachers or trainers.
The Commission is now calling for “effective, proactive and visible leadership and management” to effect a cultural shift from legal compliance to full equality.
