COLIN WILLIAMS has been appointed to the new role of national manager Wales for the Institute of the Motor Industry, the automotive sector’s professional association and sector skills council. Williams will be concentrating on delivering the IMI’s ‘big wins’ (14-19 provision, adult learning, careers and management and leadership) and its Proud to be Professional campaign to improve standards within the industry.
Tata Interactive Systems (TIS) has appointed Newcastle-based JAYNE D’SILVA as an account director. D’Silva has spent 14 years in the e-learning sector, working as an independent consultant with REDTRAY before joining TIS. She has also been an account manager with SkillSoft and previously worked at General Physics.
ANDREA GENTILI is the new chief sales and marketing officer at Giunti Labs, with responsibility for global sales, marketing and business development activities. He has 18 years’ experience within the ICT and consulting industry, having had several senior management positions in Italy, southern Europe and the UK.
Giunti Labs has appointed PAOLO SICCA as its chief operating
officer, with responsibility for managing and optimising all of its product and service delivery processes. Sicca began 73his career as a system designer at the Fiat research centre and has since worked for, among others, Wabco Westinghouse/Ansaldo, General Electric and Comtech.
ALISTAIR MORRISON has become MD of the London office The Fifth Business, an integrated communications, learning and digital media design company working principally in the international
oil and gas industry. He has previously had his own business consultancy – Strathmore Business Consulting – and has worked at Vega plc, Lorien Customer Focus, Skillchange Systems, Cobent and Echelon.
JPD, which provides health and safety, quality and environmental management courses, has appointed ADAM KARA as its customer relations manager. Kara has been with JPD since last August and is based at its training centre in Plumley, Cheshire.
The Management Recruitment Group (MRG), which recruits executives within the construction industry, has appointed MICHAEL HEWLETT to the post of senior practice manager at its Twickenham office in southwest London. He will launch a new interim services division, specialising in supplying middle- to senior-level professionals to corporate real estate and facilities-management companies.
DAVID WELLS has joined Wolters Kluwer UK, which provides business information and consultancy services for HR professionals under the Croner and CCH brands, as head of public relations. He will lead all PR activities at the company and will be responsible for its communications strategy, working with the executive board to support its strategic plans.
The Chartered Institute of Marketing has appointed SIR PAUL JUDGE as its president, replacing former Conservative minister Michael Heseltine. Judge said: “I am keen to help in further enhancing the reputation of the Institute and therefore the recognition of responsible marketing and high professional standards within organisations in the UK and overseas.”
Former ballet dancer LEE FISHER has been appointed as a consultant at training company Lane4. He trained at the Royal Ballet School and spent 17 years as a solo dancer with the Birmingham Royal Ballet. He has been the dance fellow on the Core Leadership Programme, an initiative that identifies and develops leaders in the cultural sector.
Former investment banker SIMON CLARKSON has been made company director of Advance Performance, just five years after joining the Preston-based corporate and personal development training provider. He said: “As soon as I joined Advance, I realised that this was a company that strived to make people and businesses the very best they can be. I now look forward to helping to take Advance to the next stage of its own development.”
Biscom, a specialist recruitment and training provider in the West Midlands, has marked its recent acquisition by American training provider ResCare with the appointment of a new MD. KAY SUTTON, who joined Biscom eight years ago as a job matcher, will be based at the organisation’s head office in Birmingham, and will be responsible for its strategic development as it enters the world stage.
Leadership and blended learning solutions provider Academee has made its director of diversity, ALISON TICKNER, managing director of its recently launched Asia Pacific business,
based in Singapore. “The Asia-Pacific region is vast and is developing at a tremendous rate,” she said. “Singapore is an ideal gateway to the region and has been recognised by the World Bank as the best place in the world to do business for the past two years.”
