The world is changing. The old hierarchical models are breaking down and being replaced by flatter models that require people to be more self-reliant and take responsibility for their decisions and actions. Stripped of this hierarchy, people, and organisations, are searching for new sources of support and help in becoming responsible for themselves.

Coaches are in a perfect position to help people make the transition from hierarchy to self-reliance, because one of the key aims of coaching is to develop coachees’ sense of responsibility for themselves and their actions.
