When we manage, it is more important to understand the best way we might manage rather than to be able to label someone. For that reason, I concentrate on the differences between the stages. Noticing those differences then helps you to have productive conversations with the individual so that your response is optimal for their performance. This is flexible managing at its best and will avoid under-managing and over-managing.
