The name Adrian Moorhouse will be familiar to sports fans. During the 1980s he swam his way to gold, silver and bronze medals in the European Championships and the Commonwealth Games, but undoubtedly his greatest achievement was winning a gold medal in the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

After leaving the sport, he co-founded a performance development consultancy, Lane4, which derives its name from his lane in the Seoul Olympics. The fourth lane is allocated to whoever achieves the fastest times in the heats and is, therefore, more likely to go on to win.

Lane4 was voted one of the

Sunday Times Best Small Companies to Work for in 2007. Moorhouse himself was voted the Institute of Directors’ South East Director of the Year last year, in awards that recognise business acumen, leadership skills and social responsibility.
