Associate trainers feel the squeeze

Independent trainers claim their rates are “constantly being squeezed” by intermediary organisations that are winning large contracts in the public sector.

They fear that the pay pressure is making working with public sector organisations less lucrative and unsustainable.

Respondents to the latest survey on freelance trainer rates by TrainerBase; the Association for Learning Practitioners say they are being asked to undertake training as associates of intermediary organisations for as little as £200 per day.

TrainerBase founder and editor Peter Mayes, who conducted the survey, said: “A continuing consensus suggests that rates within the training sector are being squeezed by clients, especially intermediary organisations that have won large contracts.
