People who have beaten all the odds to find a job or start their own business had their efforts recognised at a special ceremony last month.
The 2007 Avanta Awards brought participants in the government’s New Deal scheme from all over England to the House of Commons to collect accolades for overcoming ‘personal or work difficulties to excel in their move from welfare into employment and exclusion into entrepreneurship’.
They were joined by MPs and representatives of Avanta, a training and enterprise company formed last April from the merger of TNG and InBiz, at the event, which also saw the first Avanta Press Awards.
