“Don’t Be Needy, Be Succeedy.” L Vaughan Spencer

Is your workforce stressed and fearful? You are as well, probably. Here’s a simple test...

1. Would I rather be somewhere else right now?

2. Would I rather be someone else right now?

You know the answer is yes to both. Timeto do something about it.

I divide my week up in the following way: Chill Days and Stress Days. A Chill Day is when you have no meetings or deadlines. Make sure you have at least two per week. Load all the stress on to the other days. I love stress but I also love chill, yet never the twain shall meet.

On a Chill Day, I rise late, wear loose saffron-coloured clothes, have carrot juice for breakfast and kayak to work. On a stress day, I rise early, dress in black, and load up with good carbs (oats, rice, quinoa) before breakfast. Remember this:

Without stress, we’re gonna get in a mess
Without chill, we’re gonna get ill.

If I find myself slipping into fight or flight mode, I go fight someone – my chum, Phil. He can call on me and I can call on him to disperse any caveman adrenalin. There’s a bit of grass near reception that serves us well. Nobody gets hurt. Apart from that one time, I actually enjoyed having a month off. Lots of people say that my nose looks better now.

I have been working with many organisations, introducing my Succeeder© programmes. It’s about embedding cogno-sensual learnings and initiating pro-active mindful Motivitality©, delivering support-enhanced discharging capabilities. But it don’t come cheap. Try a preliminary exercise right now, for free. Look into a mirror and say “I am Succeedy©” seven times. Feels good, doesn’t it?

Case Study

Charles was under stress and under-conf ident. He went on a Succeeder© course. Now he is married and is the chief executive of a big company.

The Succeeder model is based on a simple psychometric test that is easier (and cheaper) than Myers-Briggs or Belbin. Not everyone is born with Succeediness but it can be trained
in even the most surprising cases (at the right price). Look at the table below and see which side of the divide you fall.

Succeedy - Needy
Feelings - Data
EQ - B&Q
Power Nap - Power Point
Flip Chart - Flip Flop
Intent - In a Tent

Once we know where we are, we can begin to know how far we’ve got to go before we know where we want to be.” Phil Tucker, project manager.

Research undertaken by Professor William Trankin of the Jimmy Connors Institute of Business in San Diego found that 76 per cent of what we do can be put down to our
behaviours.

How can we maintain Impactfulness? In a room full of strangers, how can we make sure they remember us? Many have found themselves transformed by the Succeeder Body
Language and Touching Course©. Starting with Deep Tissue Ego Massage and proceeding to Advanced Elbow Strategy, many have found we can transform Anxious Guiltoholics
into Major League Room Workers.

Eleanor (not her real name; that’s Helen) was painfully shy. She used to hide in the stationery cupboard for most of the day despite being chief executive of a hospital trust. Now
she is a lap dancer and runs Assert Yer Booty courses for other leaders in the public sector.

Of course, our post-training service recognises that people may relapse. They can ring the Succeedy Line 24 hours a day (calls charged at £17.53 per minute; please check
with the bill-payer). This is motivation by phone — or ‘Phonivation’ ©. Without it, Eleanor would still be in that cupboard.
