City University London is set to launch a new interdisciplinary Centre for Performance at Work, in recognition of the billions of pounds that organisations spend every year to recruit, develop and retain staff. CIPD head outlines her vision for institute’s future
Jackie Orme, the head of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), today outlined her vision for the future of the organisation. In an opening keynote speech at the CIPD’s annual conference in Manchester, Orme said the institute’s HR Profession Map, launched in April, had been the catalyst for a “breathtaking journey for both qualifications and membership” that the organisation was undergoing. Government moves to dispel negative public attitude towards maths

US-style internship scheme launched to help people with learning disabilities
People with learning disabilities will be taking part in an internship scheme designed to help them into work, the government announced last week. Project Search, which is based on an initiative pioneered in America, will provide a series of internships with an employer for people with learning disabilities and 14 sites will take part in a government evaluation of the model from next September.
