Claire Line, Learning Technologies Manager at Lovells, will give a presentation on the changing culture of learning in large organisations, at the Moving Learning 2007 seminars running this week in the UK on 13 June and the Netherlands on 14 June.
Claire's presentation is a case study based on the experiences of Lovells law firm, as they move from a traditional learning culture to embrace a wide variety of new learning technologies, new approaches and new methods.
Claire Line said: "In the past most of our IT training was instructor led and the same modules had been run for years. Learners had moved on but the courses hadn't. There was no regular dialogue with internal clients to find out where people were struggling and what exactly they needed. The only IT training available online were quick reference cards."
Over the course of three years, Lovells has introduced a number of new learning technologies, including virtual classroom and webinar tools, just in time performance support tools, in-house and off-the-shelf e-learning courses.
"Learners globally now have more choice as to how and when they want to learn. The focus for online offerings expanded from IT training to compliance, legal and legal skills training and language training" said Claire Line. Lovells is today widely recognised as being one of the leading learning organisations in the legal and professional services sectors.
Claire will describe the approach Lovells took to get these new learning technologies and offerings in place and will highlight the key challenges faced. Claire will also talk about remaining challenges and new ideas for using additional formal and informal tools to deliver learning and knowledge.
