Learning and Development News - The value of time out to meditate

Speaking at the CIPD's HRD 2007 Conference, Buddhist Abbot, Venerable Ajahn Brahm put the problems in our modern world down to us not knowing how to put our responsibilities to one side and relax. He claimed employees would benefit from 15-20 minutes meditation after which they would feel relaxed, able to work more effectively and without stress.

Venerable Ajahn Brahm said: “New technology makes it easier to communicate and travel around the world. But this global and instant communication has contributed to the increased pressure that employees face today.

“It is important employees spend time being peaceful and learn how to relax so that they project a positive attitude working together effectively instead of getting caught up in office politics. Improving the quality of life at work can also improve happiness at home.”
