Learning and Development News - London students in design competition

In 2006 Poolia worked with students at Kingsbury High School creating new ideas for business. The Project was so successful that it was short-listed in the Lord Mayor’s Dragon Awards.  This year The Design House, based in Winchester is sponsoring the project and it has support from Mike King the CEO of The Environmental Council.

Teams will be tasked with creating innovative, environmentally friendly products.  They will then present their ideas and business plans to a panel of judges.  Team members will be encouraged to think about all aspects of business from planning and design to marketing and accountancy.

To help them as they work through the competition, each team will be assigned a mentor and will have the opportunity to visit the offices of the sponsoring organisations and their clients’ city offices throughout the project.

The eight week project, now fully under way, will finish in March.  The winning team will receive £500 worth of vouchers, and the student who excels the most throughout the project will be awarded an additional £100, an iPod Nano and will receive a two-week work placement at Poolia.
