Learning and Development News - MacLeod to show employers how to put engagement findings into practice

David MacLeod, the author of a government commissioned report that directly linked employee engagement with organisational success, is taking his message on the road.

In March, along with report co-author Nita Clarke, MacLeod will be speaking at a one-day event exploring what engagement means in a practical context.

It comes at a time when employee engagement becomes increasingly important for UK firms, according to a survey of business leaders by Ipsos Mori.

Researchers found that although two-thirds of the country’s FTSE-500 firms admitted to reducing staff numbers and cutting or freezing salaries in the past year, executives put attracting, motivating and retaining high performing employees at the top of their list of factors able to increase business success.

The event, Engaging for the future: making people your competitive advantage, aims to provide an opportunity for companies to explore, experience and understand what engagement means in context and provide techniques to improve organisational and personal wellbeing.

On the day, Steps, a drama based training specialist, will help provide interactive techniques and there will be keynote speakers including Emma Whittaker, global head of L&D at HSBC and Mark Moorton, international director of HR at Specsavers.

It will be chaired by John McCarthy, a broadcaster, journalist and one of the hostages held captive in the Lebanon hostage crisis of the 1980s.
