Learning and Development News - Apprenticeship in financial services gains accreditation

Acorn has become the first training agency in Wales to be accredited by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).

The accreditation of Acorn’s Apprenticeship in Providing Financial Services brings the number of CII endorsed providers in the UK to 12.

The recruitment and training company, which was established in 1992, has 32 branches across the UK and delivers training to more than 3,000 people each year.

Emma Choat, Acorn’s head of programme development, said: “The increase in the numbers of people turning to apprenticeships and the current focus on the financial services industry means that this sector requires the very highest standard of training provision.

“Through our extensive knowledge and familiarity with the sector in Wales, we are able to provide precisely that and we are proud that Acorn has become the first provider in Wales to win CII accreditation.”

The company, based near Newport in South Wales, has scooped awards in the past for fast growth and regional recruitment work.

Caspar Bartington, relationship manager at CII, a 93,000 member strong professional organisation for insurance and financial services, welcomed the latest accreditation. He said: “Acorn has a proven track record in delivering high-quality training and support in Wales. Their record with employers of all sizes speaks for itself.

“We are delighted to have cemented our relationship with Acorn in this way, and we look forward to working with them and employers to ensure that Acorn’s apprenticeship provision continues to increase workforce professionalism.”
