Learning and Development News - Off-shore industry training specialist acquired in new deal

Energy industry training specialist Training Company Consultancy has been acquired by Port Services Engineering Limited.

The deal, worth an undisclosed sum, sees PSEL take a majority share of TCC.

TCC’s structure stays the same.

TCC is based in Ellon, north of Aberdeen, and offers health, safety, environment and quality management systems and training to the petro-chemical, oil and gas, and power industries.

As well as its Scottish operation, it is present in Brazil, Azerbaijan, the Middle East and West Africa.

That overseas experience will be used by PSEL to support its delivery of its own services abroad.

PSEL is also based in Scotland – at Invergordon and Aberdeen – and provides logistics support services, including project management, heavy cranes and marine services, to oil, drilling and shipping companies. It is part of Port Services Group.

According to PSG operations director Paul Clark, acquiring TCC provides a “neat complement” to PSEL’s services and will enable the company to provide customers for its project management service with the added value of high quality training.

“We are delighted to welcome TCC to the Group and extend a very warm welcome to its employees, customers and suppliers.”

James Murphy, managing director of TCC, added: “I am extremely proud of the achievements of the TCC team, which has placed us at the leading edge of training in the oil and gas industries. As part of the Port Services Group we will be able to offer a much wider range of services benefiting both staff and customers.”

One of the immediate outcomes of the deal will be the development of a new facility to provide state-of-the-art training in areas such as lifting operations, emergency response, heli-deck skills and confined space entry and rescue.
