The CLC, which provides e-learning resources to the charity and voluntary sectors, has welcomed four new members, increasing its membership by 40 per cent in six months. It is now affiliated with 40 voluntary organisations.
The most recent members included Diabetes UK, the Orders of St John Trust, the National Childminding Association and the Personal Service Society (PSS), which provides community-based social and health care services across north west England, central Scotland and North Wales.
Before joining the CLC, the PSS did not have any e-learning systems or strategies in place. Helen Hagan, training administrator, and Vince Connor, training manager, decided that it would be worthwhile joining the organisation.
Hagan said: “There is a variety of e-learning resources available at the CLC and it is a good way of networking with other charitable organisations. We didn’t have anything in place before. We sent out a questionnaire to people in the organisation beforehand to find out if they thought this was a good idea.
“It is good because our employees are quite widely spread geographically, so it means that more staff have access to training so can access e-learning anytime they want, at work, in their homes or at the library.”
