Learning and Development News - e-skills UK starts re-licensing process

e-skills UK is working with employers to set out ambitious plans for the future of the country’s technology skills.

The sector skills council has submitted an expression of interest as part of the government's requirements for all SSCs to be re-licensed following the publication last year of the Leitch Review of Skills.

As it prepares for re-licensing, e-skills UK is mapping out its strategic priorities and preparing a full portfolio of evidence of its effectiveness up to now, which will be submitted to the UK Commission for Employment and Skills.

The expression of interest summarises e-skills UK’s main achievements over the last five years, its priorities and how it supports the technology skills needs in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Margaret Sambell, director of strategy at e-skills UK, said: "In preparation for re-licensing, we are working closely with employers and other partners to define strategic priorities for the coming years.

"The increasing emphasis on the role of employers in addressing the UK's skills needs means that we are able to set out more ambitious plans than ever before to meet the needs of the sector and ensure that the UK has the technology-related skills it needs to compete in the global economy."
