Learning and Development News - Increase in turnover announced by training venues company

etc.venues has announced a 16.5 per cent increase in annual turnover this year.

The training venues company revealed this week that its turnover has gone up from £12m in the 2006/07 financial year to £14m in 2007/08.

It attributes its success during difficult trading conditions to its specialised services.

MD Alastair Stewart said: “Our success is down to the specialist nature of our business, which makes us easy to buy when training or event budgets are squeezed. Our bookers know they are going to get a dedicated environment with everything they need for a first-class training or meeting outcome.

“The fact that we are non-residential and always positioned in city centre locations close to public transport strengthens the offering even further, as we enable companies to save cost, time and carbon footprint when organising off-site meetings.”

etc.venues has a number of sites in London and has recently expanded to Birmingham in the first phase of a planned regional roll-out. It has also announced “ongoing major investment” in some of its London venues.

etc.venues’ first London venue - Avonmouth House - is due to undergo a £300,000 facelift next month to extend the restaurant and an “exotic outdoor planting theme”.

Bonhill House is also earmarked for a “substantial design ‘refresh’” as well as investment in its catering facility and IT infrastructure.

Dexter House is to be expanded, with another 7,500 sq ft of floor space providing another nine rooms and space for an extra 150 delegates. The extra space will include a 125 sq m lounge with snack bar counter and internet pod.

The Onyx Restaurant at The Hatton is to be improved this year, too.
