Advocating the need for greater choice and control, a new cross-government paper, produced in partnership with disabled people says there is a need for support and greater access to employment opportunities.
The paper, Independent Living Strategy, contains a commitment to develop a national strategy to enable people to remain in employment when they become disabled or if their condition worsens.
Prime Minister, Gordon Brown welcomed the strategy saying: “We are committed to a vision of equality for all disabled people by 2025. A vision for Britain where all citizens are respected and included as equal members, and where everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their potential.”
